About Knapp's Electric

Who we are

Knapp's Electric is a licensed electrical contractor based in Elginburg, Ontario, serving Kingston and Eastern Ontario. We're a real two-pillar business — full electrical contracting (residential, commercial, industrial) and a generator specialty as an authorized Generac sales and service dealer. Both sides are active and operating, not one side propping up the other.

The owner

Knapp's Electric is owned and operated by a master electrician with forty-five years of trade work across Ontario — residential, commercial, industrial, and generator. ECRA/ESA License #7012923. Generac Authorized Dealer #11133084.

The platform

Beyond electrical work, Robb designed and built the customer portal, scheduling system, and intake platform you'll interact with as a Knapp's customer — every piece of software running this business was built in-house. The same attention to detail that goes into a 200-amp service goes into the systems that track your project, schedule your maintenance, and keep your warranty documentation organized.

How we work

We're direct. We don't pad quotes, we don't push brands the customer doesn't need, and we don't take work we can't deliver. Every project starts with a real conversation about what the customer is actually trying to do. Where we're hired to design, we design. Where we're hired to supply, we supply. Where we're hired to install, we install. Where the customer wants only one piece of that, we sell only that piece.

For generator work specifically, that means three service paths — turnkey installation, design + supply, and design-only. The customer picks the path that fits their situation, and we work to it.

The infrastructure

The back office of Knapp's Electric runs on software built in-house by the owner.

Generator Hub is our customer relationship management system. Quotes, invoices, service history, scheduled maintenance, photos from past installs, direct customer messaging, generator monitoring — all in one place. Customers log in at hub.knappselectric.ca to see their account 24 hours a day.

Why we built it

The work in the field comes first. The infrastructure exists to support the work — not the other way around. Forty-five years of running an electrical contracting business taught us where the bottlenecks are. The platforms we built address those bottlenecks specifically.

For the customer: scheduled service reminders that actually go out on time, quote and invoice history searchable in seconds, photos of every install attached to the customer record, and a single portal that holds the entire relationship from first quote to long-term service.

Each one exists because off-the-shelf options for tradesmen weren't designed for how a real contracting business actually runs. Most of these directly support our electrical and generator work. A couple address gaps we've seen in adjacent fields. Building them ourselves means cleaner records, faster responses, and customer relationships that hold up over years and decades.
